Prior to turning 65, I couldn’t begin to understand what the big issue was with Medicare. I thought it was as simple as you sign up and you’re covered. One size fits all and you could then go to whatever doctor took Medicare and you were covered. Being an ER doctor, I didn’t have to deal with patient insurance issues. I simply took care of everyone who came through the ER doors and the hospital worried about the financial side of things. Boy, have I ever been rudely surprised.
