Inside E Street is an informative half-hour talk show that delves into the issues behind the headlines. While most political talk shows focus on news from the campaign trail and analyze poll results, Inside E Street, hosted by Lark McCarthy, looks at the latest developments affecting your health, financial security and retirement.
In the third season of Inside E Street, Lark McCarthy, and her team of veteran news producers tackle issues such as “Babies @ 50” and “Elder Abuse.” Inside E Street’s unique approach brings the discussion beyond the ten-second sound bite, straight to the heart of the matter. As Baby Boomers age in a youth-oriented society, many topics, critical to this growing population, are largely ignored by other news programs.
For three decades, Lark McCarthy was a pioneering anchor in Washington, D.C., covering vital issues and newsmakers in our nation’s capital. Journalist Juan Williams said, “She has done so with grace and intelligence.” Ms. McCarthy anchored Fox Five Morning News from June 1990 to June 2007 and contributed to Emmy award-winning newscasts at Fox 5 and ABC 7 in Washington, D.C.
As senior editor of Fox Five Morning News, “she set the standard for accuracy and fairness” according to former Fox 5 producer John Walker. He added, “She pushes everyone to take their work to a higher level.” WTTG General Manager, Duffy Dyer, called her the “conscience of the newsroom”.
Her journalism experience includes serving as a White House Correspondent for ABC News and an anchor for CBS News Nightwatch.
Ms. McCarthy has received numerous awards and honors, including an Emmy for a special report on the aftermath of the sniper shootings; a Silver Circle award for her significant contributions to news coverage in the Washington area; and an honorary doctor of humane letters degree from Strayer University.
Recently, Ms. McCarthy served as moderator for a series of webcasts for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services aimed at alerting the nation to the many issues involved in preparing for a flu pandemic.
She currently serves on The Kennedy Center’s National Committee for the Performing Arts and chairs the NCPA’s Executive Committee; and she serves on the board of directors for the Public Education Foundation of Clark County, Nevada.
Ms. McCarthy earned a Bachelor of Science degree and Master of Science degree in journalism from Northwestern University.
She lives in Las Vegas with her husband, Michael Thomas, a pediatric orthopedic surgeon with Nevada Orthopedic and Spine Center.
