Jointly produced by NBC News, from their studios in Washington and New York, Daily Café tackles pressing stories and current affairs. The show is interested in what those at home have to say; open phone lines and emails incorporate viewer comments, questions and concerns into the program.

Hosting from the nation's capitol is Fred Grandy, four-term member of the U.S. House of Representatives and well-known actor from the TV series The Love Boat. Hosting from the Big Apple is Alex Witt, anchor and correspondent for MSNBC. Daily Café features NBC journalists and contributors with news breaks at the top and bottom of the program as well as an exciting roster of guest correspondents including: Dr. Ruth Westheimer, Sherry Parrish, Dr. Kevin Soden, Jean Chatzky and Suze Orman.

Fred Grandy

Harvard graduate Fred Grandy became a household name playing the beloved character Burl "Gopher" Smith for nine seasons on the hit TV series The Love Boat. After a successful acting career, this former political speechwriter served as a four term Congressional Representative from the state of Iowa. Following his run in Congress, Mr. Grandy became President and CEO of Goodwill Industries, the billion-dollar work and training organization for persons with physical disabilities and economic disadvantages. In addition to his hosting duties on Daily Café, Fred also co-hosts The Grandy & Andy Morning Show, a radio news/talk show in Washington, D.C.


Alex Witt

Alex Witt is a University of Southern California graduate who, early in her career, worked as a reporter for KCBS-TV in Los Angeles as well as WNYW-TV in New York City. Ms. Witt joined MSNBC in 1999 and has served as an anchor and correspondent on a variety of programs. Most recently she has settled into her role as weekend morning anchor for MSNBC Saturday and MSNBC Sunday. Witt also substitute anchors weekday primetime telecasts including Countdown with Keith Olbermann and Scarborough Country. In 2004, Witt anchored a week of primetime shows in the wake of the Asian Tsunami. She has also covered the 2000 and 2004 presidential elections, the September 11 terror attacks on America and the War on Terrorism in the Middle East. When not in the anchor chair, Alex enjoys singing with her band Mrs. Robinson.
